Sony Pictures has decided to make changes to its release schedule, rescheduling the release date of the highly anticipated horror movie Insidious 6. Originally scheduled for August 29, 2026, the release of the sixth installment of the popular franchise has been moved to August 21 of the same year. The change allows another production from the company to take the original date of Insidious 6.
The movie that will take the place of Insidious 6 is Caught Stealing, a crime thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring actor Austin Butler. The story follows Hank Thompson, a former baseball player who, after having a failed career, unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of a complicated situation. Although specific plot details are scarce, the film’s appeal centers on how a weary and disenchanted character can be drawn into a world full of surprises and challenges.
A change due to a strategic plan to maximize audiences
The decision to change the release dates of both films comes at a time when audiences are slowly returning to theaters, suggesting that Sony is looking to maximize the box office performance of its productions. The Insidious franchise, which has been a staple of the modern horror genre since its debut, continues to capture the audience’s attention and, despite this delay, its new installment is eagerly anticipated.
Regarding Caught Stealing, the combination of Aronofsky as director and Butler as the lead has sparked great interest among the audience. However, details about the plot and the overall approach of the film are still limited, which has opened the door to speculation about possible twists in the narrative. As both films approach their respective releases, they will undoubtedly continue to generate a growing level of anticipation among movie enthusiasts.
